MLK Republicans ask City of Chicago to seek outside help to prepare for Independence weekend


Jimmy Lee Tillman, II, president of the Martin Luther King Republicans, asks Mayor Lori Lightfoot to seek help from Governor Pritzer and Sheriff Tom Dart to quell the violence during the holiday weekend in Chicago. In letters sent to the elected officials, the group requested additional officers to give relief to the overworked CPD, monitor, and assist in “hot zones” while preserving the citizens’ right to Assemble and provide them with safety.
