Conservatives from across the country will fellowship with the Martin Luther King Republicans on March 25th at 6 o'clock for a remarkable evening that will educate and entertain you. MLKR will commemorate the August 1863 meeting between President Lincoln and Rev. Frederick Douglass with readings and dramatic prose. Rev. Douglass visited the White House to advocate for equal pay to Black soldiers during the Civil War. Later Rev. Douglass would become an advisor to President Lincoln, who many scholars say helped draft the Emancipation Proclamation, and helped the Union Army recruit Black troops.
