Our Agenda Promotes the American Dream for All
The Martin Luther King Republicans are happy to re-print this commentary written by Dr. Alveda King, chairman of the Center for the American Dream
As we commemorate Black History Month, it is imperative to reflect on the significant contributions made by Black Americans throughout our Nation's history. At the America First Policy Institute, we remain steadfast in our commitment to delivering prosperity to all Americans.
The America First Agenda ensures that every American, regardless of background, can thrive. Unfortunately, the policies advocated by the Left have failed America. Record-high prices, soaring inflation, and weak-on-crime policies have only exacerbated the challenges struggling communities face.
In contrast, America First policies have yielded tangible beneficial results. We witnessed historically low unemployment rates for African Americans, Hispanic Americans, and Americans with disabilities. Median household incomes soared to unprecedented levels, while the poverty rate reached an all-time low. This was all just a few years ago, but for those struggling, it feels like a lifetime ago.
The 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, a cornerstone of the America First Agenda, established the Opportunity Zones program to catalyze investment, economic development, and job creation in distressed areas. Over the past five years, these communities have attracted over $100 billion in investment capital, fostering new real estate development, businesses, and infrastructure revitalization.
Furthermore, our Agenda prioritizes school choice, ensuring that every student, regardless of zip code, has access to a quality education essential for a successful career and fulfilling life. The America First Agenda prioritizes school choice to ensure every student can access a quality education that provides the knowledge and skills necessary for a successful career and fulfilling life.
The America First vision offers real solutions for all Americans’ problems, not just empty words and broken promises. Our Agenda protects and promotes the American Dream for all.
I am honored to work alongside distinguished Black leaders within AFPI, who represent resilience and commitment. NFL greats Jack Brewer, Chair of the Center for Opportunity Now and Vice-Chair for Center for 1776; Scott Turner, Chair of the Center of Education Opportunity, and Frank D. Murphy, Chair of the Athletes for America; and Secretary Ken Blackwell, Chair for the Center of Election Integrity are at the forefront of championing policies that uplift our communities. Their relentless effort for educational opportunities, economic development, election integrity, and preserving family values is paving the way for a prosperous future.
This Black History Month, let's reaffirm our dedication to policies that foster prosperity for every American. Together, we are not merely envisioning a brighter future; we are actively constructing it.
Let us stand united in our journey toward a future where the American Dream is accessible to all, driven by America First values that define our great nation
America First, Always.
